John Luter is an original "Black Sox" player, beginning in 1997, and was a core player for the Sox for 25 years. His promise to "not quit playing until the year he doesn't hit a home run" turned into "until the year he doesn't steal a base" which turned into "until the year he doesn't get a hit" kept his spot on the roster for many years.
