Rate Stats Qualifiers
This page explains how the Green Mountain Baseball League determines whether a player qualifies for rate-stat leaderboards such as batting AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS; pitching ERA, WHIP, and AVG; and fielding FPCT.
Batting qualifier rule
For regular season and playoff batting leaderboards, the GMBL uses a threshold of 2.4 plate appearances per completed team game for batting AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS.
For players who appear for more than one team within the same scope, the qualifier is based on the minimum completed games among the player's teams.
Plate appearances are calculated here as:
Pitching qualifier rule
For regular season and playoff pitching leaderboards, the GMBL uses a threshold of 0.5 innings pitched per completed team game for ERA, WHIP, and AVG.
Because innings are stored internally as outs, this is calculated as:
Fielding qualifier rule
For regular season and playoff fielding leaderboards, the GMBL uses a threshold of 0.5 games per completed team game for FPCT.
This is calculated as:
When qualifiers apply
- Regular season: qualifiers apply
- Playoffs: qualifiers apply
- Preseason: qualifiers do not apply
- Non-League / exhibition: qualifiers do not apply
All-time rate stats
For all-time batting rate-stat leaderboards, the GMBL currently uses a fixed minimum of 100 plate appearances.
Pitching and fielding all-time rate-stat tables use the same category-specific qualifier logic that applies to their leaderboard rows.
Current leaderboard behavior
When a player table is sorted by a qualified rate stat, non-qualified players are hidden by default. This keeps tiny-sample performances from dominating the leaderboard.
Batting AVG, OBP, and SLG also support a non-qualified leader exception. A player can still appear if their adjusted rate would still lead after being charged with enough hitless at-bats to reach the required threshold. OPS, pitching rate stats, and fielding FPCT do not use that exception.
