Vermont Black Sox at Burlington Brewers

Newton collected three hits in four at bats, as Vermont Black Sox defeated Burlington Brewers 15-7 on Saturday. Newton hit a home run to center field in the fifth inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Vermont Black Sox flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs on six hits to take the lead, 15-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Perrotte that drove in two.

Canty earned the win for Vermont Black Sox. The right-handed pitcher gave up 12 hits and seven runs (six earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Goulet took the loss for Burlington Brewers. The starter went five and two-thirds innings, allowing 15 runs (seven earned) on 15 hits, striking out four and walking four.
