Mikell’s Big Day Propels Champlain Mariners Past Browns River Diamondbacks

Mikell drove in five runs on two hits to lead Champlain Mariners past Browns River Diamondbacks 15-4 on Sunday. Mikell hit a grand slam to right field in the sixth inning, scoring four runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring one.

Champlain Mariners won thanks in part to eight runs in the sixth inning. Broullette singled, scoring two runs, Mikell hit a grand slam to right field, Tanguay singled, scoring one run, and Mazza-Bergeron singled, scoring one run.

Champlain Mariners opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three singles. Champlain Mariners first got on the board when Bushey singled, scoring one run.

Browns River Diamondbacks tied the game up in the bottom of the second thanks to two home runs. Browns River Diamondbacks tied the game at four on a solo home run to left field by Arsenault.

In the top of the third, Champlain Mariners broke up the tie when Poland hit a solo home run to center field. Then a single by Tanis followed to extend the lead to 6-4.
