Burlington Brewers Defeat Vermont Black Sox On Multiple Hit Performance By Quong

Quong collected three hits in five at bats, as Burlington Brewers defeated Vermont Black Sox 11-8 on Sunday at Williston Schools. Quong tripled in the fourth inning, tripled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Burlington Brewers collected 15 hits and Vermont Black Sox eight in the high-scoring affair.

Burlington Brewers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Eaton grounded into a double play, and Levan singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Burlington Brewers added one run in the third. Eaton singled down the right field line, making the score 3-1.

Vermont Black Sox took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Lavoie singled to right field, Burlington Brewers committed an error, and Cassani grounded out, each scoring one run.

In the top of the fourth inning, Burlington Brewers went back into the lead after Russell singled down the left field line, and Quong tripled to center field, each scoring one run.

Vermont Black Sox captured the lead, 7-5, in the bottom of the fourth when Celeste singled, scoring one run, and Burt doubled, scoring two runs.

Burlington Brewers captured the lead, 8-7, in the top of the fifth after Bilodeau grounded into a fielder's choice, Concessi grounded out, and Russell singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Perrotte grounded out, which helped Vermont Black Sox tie the game at eight in the bottom of the fifth.

A fielder's choice by Sheehan gave Burlington Brewers the lead, 9-8, in the top of the sixth.

Halter earned the win for Burlington Brewers. The pitcher gave up eight hits and eight runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking five. Soto took the loss for Vermont Black Sox. The hurler went three innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking two. Dickerson opened the game for Vermont Black Sox. The right-handed pitcher surrendered 11 hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out four and walking two. McDade collected the save.
