Champlain Mariners Hold Off Burlington Brewers For Victory
Despite seeing their 4-run lead whittled down by the end, Champlain Mariners still held off for a 7-6 victory on Tuesday. Burlington Brewers closed the gap by scoring on a double and a walk.
Burlington Brewers got on the board in the top of the second inning after Cheung singled to left field, Palermo singled to left field, and Champlain Mariners committed an error, each scoring one run.
Champlain Mariners flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Bushey that drove in three.
Quinn earned the win for Champlain Mariners. The hurler allowed two hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Wenner took the loss for Burlington Brewers. The pitcher went three and one-third innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking seven. Mikell appeared in relief for Champlain Mariners.
Fragola, Champlain Mariners's number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Tanguay, Bushey, Bushey, and Mazza-Bergeron each drove in one run for Champlain Mariners.
